Social Media Copy Volunteer

Do you enjoy writing? Spend time scrolling through social media? Put those skills to use for a good cause! The social media copy volunteer will help write captions for KOM’s social media posts to raise awareness about the organization, programs, fundraising, events, and more.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Write captions that can be used for upcoming social media posts, primarily on Instagram and Facebook
  • Amount: 2-4 post captions per week
  • Regular content: monthly upcoming events, quarterly fundraising, programs open for enrollment, job openings, volunteer openings, event highlights, etc.
  • Social media campaigns:
    • September Suicide Prevention Awareness Campaign (3-4 posts)
    • KOM’s Annual Fall Gala promotions (10-12 posts)
    • Year-End Giving Campaign (4-6 posts)

Time commitment:

2-4 hours per week for at least 2 months. Short-term project-based volunteer opportunities are available for some social media campaigns.

Location:

Remote or in-person at the KOM Office, 2353 Rice Street, Suite 240, Roseville, MN 55113.

Qualifications:

Volunteers must be age 18 or older. Volunteers should have an interest in communications, social media, and/or writing.

  • Experience using and/or managing social media pages on Facebook and Instagram
  • Experience with writing social media captions for a variety of audiences, or interested in learning
  • Proficient in English (speaking and typing), with strong English writing skills
  • Proficiency in any of the following languages is beneficial, but not required: S’gaw Karen, Pwo Karen, Karenni, Burmese, Pashto, Dari, and Spanish. The ability to type in Karen is highly beneficial.
  • Knowledge of the Karen community and other refugee and immigrant communities in Minnesota is beneficial
